We never stop working on process improvement.

Our automation roadmap focuses on deploying scalable technologies that enhance efficiency, safety, and sustainability while reducing cost and physical footprint. Across key global markets, we have introduced scalable solutions to redefine traditional warehousing models:

  • Advanced 2D shuttle technology to consolidate storage capacity while driving space utilization and labor efficiencies
  • AutoStore, an automated, robot-powered storage system that delivers secure, compact, and highly efficient storage within a low-oxygen environment
  • Dexory, incorporating self-driving robots to scan warehouse aisles and capture precise 3D data, providing immediate visibility into inventory, rack utilization, and available capacity, enabling faster, data-driven decision-making and supporting predictive planning across our network.

Our NA Warehousing and Logistics teams continuously identify challenges and develop innovative ways to improve operations and the customer experience within our warehouses, including:

  • Developed a WMS customer UI from the ground up in 18 months to service fulfillment accounts
  • Incorporated finger scanners to essentially run hands-free processing so pickers never have to touch a keyboard, mouse or a mobile device
  • Created a real-time inventory management system to support tracking and streamline operations.

Security and safety at Iron Mountain is priority one.

Our warehouses have internal and external video surveillance systems for monitored chain of custody from trucks to facility, from shelves to deployment. We’ve got access control systems with security alarms connected to third-party monitoring. Our buildings have designated entrances for visitors and employees as well as sign-in processes.

And we’ve given the same care and thought to digital security as we mirror the network and firewall protocols we use in our storage warehouses, which follow the highest level of security based on SEC and federal mandates. All of this is supported and monitored by our internal Risk and Security organization.
